This program prepares students to enter employment as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified Airframe mechanic in the aircraft maintenance industry. Students must receive a minimum grade of "C" or better in all required courses and each of the FAA subject areas as listed in the Code of Federal Regulations to qualify for the degree or certificate. Successful completion of this program enables students to take the FAA mechanic certification examinations with an Airframe rating. FAA certification as an Aircraft Mechanic is required for employment in this field. Excellent opportunities for employment exist in this area of training.

The program will utilize the college’s program review process forprogram monitoring and improvement as well as following all FAA regulations.The program meets twice annually with its industry-based advisory committee todiscuss industry/workplace needs and the enhancement of instructional programsto facilitate those needs. Discussionswill focus on specific skill sets desired by employers as well as currentindustry trends and issues with which students must be familiar upon programcompletion.
The college has all of the required resources to offer the programwithin existing facilities. The current instructional, library, and studentsupport services are adequate to meet the needs of this program. All facultyteaching in the program meet the minimum qualifications for teaching thecurriculum.
