Catalog Description

The Building Construction Drafting Technology Certificate program will prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be employed as technicians in construction related trades such as, drafting, design specialist, plan reviewer and architect assistant. The Building Construction Drafting Technology Certificate will also prepare technicians to become employed or in the construction trades and/or pursue a higher education in the field of engineering or architecture.

Enrollment Completer Projections

Program Goal

This program addresses a need identified by the Building Construction Advisory Committee for employees with drafting skills, particularly Computer Assisted Drafting.  The primary focus of the program is in the construction trades, although students can branch out into engineering and architecture. The Building Construction LMI supports the expansion of the Construction program  with this certificate and is further supported by local industry representatives in need of technicians with drafting technology skills.

The program includes a combination of disciplines where drafting skills, primarily  centered around the construction industry and the use of  AutoCAD are in demand and essential for the industry.
