Course Report

Program Requirements Narrative

The Custody Assistant Training course is consistent with statewide and agency requirements for entry-level correctional officers and jailers. It provides a pathway for students to enter this profession as a custodial assistant.  This Custody AssistantTraining course has been in place for 19 years at East Los Angeles College. It represents a successful and long-standing relationship with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in an Instructional Service Agreement.  No new funding, resources, or curriculum are required since this training is well established.  For the past five (5) years, this training has produced 100+ student completions and has been an extremely successful program for both the College and the Sheriff’sDepartment.
