It integrates the elements of illustration, logo-design, typography, HTML/CSS page layout, audio, video, still images, animation, text and data for the delivery of graphic and online interactive content. Our program is designed to give students the skills and training to compete in this creative and high skill industry.

Program Learning Outcomes – Upon completion, students will be able to:
Analyze and apply the elements and principles of design with competent skill and technique with computer based media.

Course Report

Program Requirements Narrative

Currently there is a growing demand for skilled and certificated workers in L.A. Per the Centers of Excellence (COE) for Labor market Research, there is "a supply gap for Graphic and Web Designers in the LA/OC region over the next 5 years.  Therefore the COE endorses this proposed program."

Multimedia Graphic and Web Design requires courses that prepare students to succeed in creating portfolios for industry careers and/or transfer. The Degree/Cert can be completed in 2 years following our Guided Pathway.

This update better aligns with Graphic Design/Communication at the CSUs.

Explanation of minor Program Modification:

Multimedia: Graphic & Web Design COA
Multimedia: Graphic & Web Design Associate Degree

BOTH the AA and Certificate in this area are making the following changes to align with CSU Transfer and Industry standards.

1.     We are adding Art 502 existing course our District and at LAMC that students need as an undergrad requirement for transfer to CSU

2.     We are adding the new course, which has been approved at LAMC, Multimedia 245. This is a lower division requirement at 9 of the CSUs in Graphic Design. It is a beginning Typography.

3.     We are moving 3 courses into an “option” area of the degree and certificate depending on which professional pathway a student wants to focus on.
