This program serves as the foundation for students seeking a career in the aviation maintenance technology field. The 12 "general" subject areas covered in this program will provide the essential knowldege, skill, and risk assessment required in both the airframe and powerplant mechanics ratings. After successful completion of this program, students will be able to move on to more advanced subject areas in both of the airframe and powerplant programs. Students must receive a minimum grade of "C" or better in all required courses and each of the FAA subject areas as listed in the Code of Federal Regulations to qualify for the certificate.

The 12"general" subject areas covered in this program will provide theessential knowlege, skill, and risk assessment required in both the airframeand powerplant mechanics ratings. After successful completion of this program,students will be able to move on to more advanced subject areas in both of theairframe and powerplant programs.
The program will utilize the college’s program review process forprogram monitoring and improvement as well as following all FAA regulations.The program meets twice annually with its industry-based advisory committee todiscuss industry/workplace needs and the enhancement of instructional programsto facilitate those needs. Discussions willfocus on specific skill sets desired by employers as well as current industrytrends and issues with which students must be familiar upon program completion.
The college has all of the required resources to offer the programwithin existing facilities. The current instructional, library, and studentsupport services are adequate to meet the needs of this program. All facultyteaching in the program meet the minimum qualifications for teaching thecurriculum.
