Catalog Description

The Office Skills for Construction Management Certificate of Achievement prepares students for occupations in the construction industry such as front office support, construction administrative assistant, office coordinator, and project coordinator.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Create clear, concise, courteous, well-organized business messages.
  • Create professional documents, spreadsheets, presentations, emails, and calendars.
  • Apply the principles of project management in relation to construction projects, estimating, scheduling and project control.
  • Evaluate career options in construction management.

Mission Hiring Hall has its CAPSA participants take all the courses in this certificate. There are typically twenty to twenty-five students enrolled each fall and spring semester. These students can complete the program in one semester, but sometimes it may take two semesters.

 

The MABS classes in the certificate are also part of the Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate of Achievement. Students can take the MABS classes plus GNBS 100 to complete another certificate. CAPSA students will be encouraged to take the additional course to obtain two certificates.

The MABS courses in this certificate (MABS 50, 101, 202, and 391) are part of the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certificate of Achievement. Students need only two additional courses (4 units) to complete the MOS certificate. The CM courses (CM 20, 100, and 250) are part of the Construction Management Certificate of Achievement and the Construction Management Associate of Science degree.
