The BIW – Real Estate Specialist Certificate of Achievement prepares students for a career as a Real Estate Salesperson according to the California Bureau of Real Estate (CalBRE) and the Department of Real Estate (DRE). After successful completion of the BIW Real Estate Specialist Certificate of Achievement, students may take the Real Estate Salesperson License test and then seek employment as real estate agents or work for a real estate broker and/or management company.
We are considering to have about 64 completers in the first year. If demand is not met we will be doubling the real estate courses aiming to duplicate that number. We are confident that with the high cost of private programs for real estate licensing, our program will foresee a spike on demand.
The BIW (Business Information Worker) Real Estate Certificate of Achievement provides our students with skills to perform in one the most profitable industries in the Coachella Valley. The idea is to prepare students with practical, career-oriented skills for an active career in the real estate profession. The strategies in this environment is very specialized and focused on satisfying client demand. These clients create a very large demand for real estate professionals. In addition to information systems and general applications skills, students receive hands-on experience in the fundamentals of business research, real estate practices and ethics, as well as real estate principles and management. Also, students are guided on how to become self-employed in this industry, either as an agent or a broker.
This certificate prepares students for careers as a real estate agent. As stated in our college catalog and online, College of the Desert’s “programs and services contribute to the success, learning and achievement of our diverse students and the vitality of the Desert Community College District, surrounding areas, and beyond.” The program results in a versatile certification that allows the student to train for a career in real estate not only in the Coachella Valley but anywhere in California. The business skills allow the student to combine their knowledge of computer literacy with real estate procedures will effectively assist them with job possibilities. The course content is current and offered in short-term, affordable completion pathways, and is designed to prepare the student for the Real Estate License exam.
