Program Goal

Upon completion of the Vocational Nursing Program, the students/graduates will be qualified to sit for licensing examination, earn an associates degree and: 

1.  Demonstrate behavior that reflects the proper values and ethics of professional nursing. 

2.     Integrate the knowledge of health promotion, restoration, and rehabilitative nursing measures into nursing practice. 

3.     Application of critical thinking skills and appropriate clinical judgment in the care of clients and communities in diverse populations. 

4.     Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity in the care of diverse populations, honoring and respecting individual race, religion, gender, sexual preference, and social or economic status. 

5.     Utilize technological innovations and research-based approaches in planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care. 

6.     Deliver nursing care following the components of the nursing process, such as assessment, focusing on nursing problems, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing care and health care outcomes according to established facility protocol and criteria. 

7.     Demonstrate competency in the care of clients with physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. 

8.     Accountability for own nursing actions with integrity and honesty with the best of intention to provide safe and effective nursing care following the Nursing Practice Act. 

9.     Collaboratively and cooperatively work with other members of the health care team. 

10.  Follow the State rules and regulations for license renewal, continuing education, and professional growth.
