Catalog Description

The Social Media Certificate aims to provide students with the training and skills to utilize Social Media tools to effectively market, promote, and inspire to action. Students will analyze and create social media campaigns for themselves, established brands, nonprofit organizations, and for causes pertaining to social justice.

Program Requirements Narrative

The goals of the program are to train students to work in the field of Social Media and for students to develop a portfolio of experience and tangible work they can use to help secure employment or continue on into further social media, social justice, public relations, communications, or marketing programs.

Students will be required to earn at least a C in all six required courses to earn the Certificate.

Students will learn social media tools and skill sets hands-on. Students will learn to use these skills to address diverse audiences inclusively and to demonstrate the latest social media techniques to prepare for the workforce and secure living-wage employment.

The college’s Film Program possesses significant crossover skills (storytelling, audio/visual production, creative marketing) necessary for this certificate.
