The Professional Policing Certificate is designed for those students interested in employment as a Peace Officer in the State of California. This Certificate will be required in 2030, per Assembly Bill 89. This certificate program integrates interdisciplinary coursework in criminal justice, communication, ethics, community engagement, and evidence-based policing strategies. It equips graduates with the critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and professional competencies needed to serve as principled, responsive peace officers who strengthen public safety while advancing legitimacy and mutual respect between law enforcement and the communities they protect.
18–35 students are projected to complete this degree annually.
