Catalog Description

The Long Beach City College Rivian MSAT Technician Certificate of Achievement is designed to provide students with industry specific knowledge and skills needed for today’s electric vehicle technicians.  The certificate is designed to successfully prepare students for employment as an Automotive Service Technician for Rivian. The program focuses on the industry standards of fix-it-right scores by providing students with the opportunity to develop skills and resolve real-world customer concerns in an equitable learning space.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

• Students will analyze and demonstrate their technical knowledge and practical skills on Rivian Electric vehicles

• Student will synthesize information and demonstrate procedures for trouble shooting shorts, opens and ground issues on low and high voltage electrical systems in a safe manner

Program Goal

The Rivian MSAT Technician program offers students the opportunity to learn about the exciting world of electric vehicles. As the transportation sector is moving away from fossil fuels and emission producing internal combustion engines, this creates a new demand for qualified technicians who can maintain, service, and diagnose electric vehicle concerns. Students will learn industry specific theories, hands on learning, and self-paced learning modules. These courses are designed for students to have the best opportunity to learn the skills needed to be a successful technician at Rivian.

Program Requirements Narrative

The Advanced Transportation Technology Certificate of Achievement is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for today’s technicians, service writers, and parts support specialists. The certificate designed to successfully prepare students for employment with entry and mid-level technician, service writer, and parts support specialist positions at dealerships, the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, and transit. The program focuses on the industry standard of fixit-right scores by providing students with the opportunity to develop skills and resolve real-world customer concerns.
