Catalog Description

The digital commerce certificate provides students with a solid foundation for entry-level internet marketing positions in agencies, businesses, and in doing freelance work. The courses cover strategies such as internet business models ,digital commerce transactions, product fulfillment, as well as hands-on experience setting up and marketing a prototype online business. The certificate is also a complement to other areas of study where students create their own content, such as photography, ceramics, music production, podcasts, and other artistic or commercial pursuits. 

Students who intend to pursue a Business degree at a four-year institution will need to follow the courses required for the Business Administration transfer degree.

Program Outcomes

  1. Describe the major trends in digital commerce today and explore future trends.
  2. Prepare and demonstrate an integrated social media marketing campaign, including personal branding, blogs, videos, email campaigns, affiliate marketing, Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing.
  3. Create an online community, including affiliate marketing, upsell, cross-sell, and venture partner opportunities; create customer relationships and strategies for retaining those customers for life.
  4. Analyze the target market, competitors' offerings to that target market, and types of products that will create a competitive advantage.
  5. Develop a prototype online business, and conduct testing to debug the prototype site.
