Catalog Description

The Cannabis Operations A.S. degree prepares students for careers in the Cannabis industry. Students will gain an understanding of the Cannabis industry, basic and advanced cultivation techniques, plant production systems, and Cannabis facilities management. Students will also gain work experience in nursery and cannabis operations to effectively navigate several roles in the Cannabis industry, including complying with Cannabis laws and regulations.

Program Requirements Narrative

This A.S. degree is part of a series of programs recommended by the Agriculture Sciences department. The programs recommended include the Cannabis Level 1 Certificate, Cannabis Level 2 Certificate, and the A.S. Cannabis Operations. These programs were developed from interest from multiple data points, including student demand, LMI data, the Cannabis industry, and the Horticulture Advisory Committee.

The program prepares students seeking a career in the Cannabis industry. The 12 core courses prepare the student to perform advanced levels of Cannabis cultivation and facilities management to achieve crop outcomes while meeting legal regulations as they apply to Cannabis cultivation in a commercial plant production system.
