Catalog Description

West Los Angeles College’s certificate of achievement in “Essentials of VideoGame Programming” will provide students with basic essential skills tomeet the growing employment demands in the video and electronic game industry. Thiscertificate will prepare students for entry level employment positions in videogame companies as programmers and coders. Training will center around the skillsets necessary for success such as basic game design, collaboration,communication, and fluidity and familiarity with the programming languages usedin creating games and digital entertainment. Students will study programminglanguages such as C# and C++ and develop fluidity with specific game enginessuch as Unity and Unreal Engine, while building and testing original gamedesigns.

 1.    Develop highly transferable coding problemsolving skills and learn how object-oriented programming works in practice.

 2.    Learn game design basics such as frameworks,game mechanics and game pillars.

 3.    Learn C# scripting as well as how to implementin Unity’s API for building games.
