Catalog Description
The HVAC Technology program prepares students for entry-level employment in the field of Environmental Control Technology, also known as Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration. Students completing these degrees/certificates offered in this program will have a foundation in troubleshooting and repair of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems. This program also introduces students to more complex systems typical to industrial refrigeration and ice machines.

Program Goal
1. The student will be describe, and evaluate the fundamental concepts of the refrigeration cycle.
2. The student will analyze common deficiencies in air conditioning systems.
3. The student will safely diagnose and troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors, and motor controls that are typical to air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
4. The student will read and interpret electrical diagrams in various technical formats.
5. The student will be prepared to pass the required Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification exam.
