The Electro-Mechanical Technician Apprentice Certificate Program is designed for individuals hired as apprentices by member employers of the Stanislaus County Area Manufacturing and Maintenance Joint Apprenticeship Committee. The program is designed so that an employer hires the apprentice, and the apprentice increases his/her occupational skills and knowledge through On-The-Job Training at the employer site while attending specific college courses approved as related supplemental instruction at Modesto Junior College.

The Electro-Mechanical Technician Apprentice Certificate Program is designed to prepare apprentices/students for a career in the maintenance of electro-mechanical and servo-mechanical devices and systems. In order to qualify for this certificate, apprentices/students need to be employed by a “Member Company” of the local area Apprenticeship Committee and be indentured with the State of California as an apprentice. Successful apprentices/students will receive vocational training in a variety of courses to prepare them for a successful career in manufacturing and/or maintenance.
To earn a Electro-Mechanical Technician Apprentice Certificate of Achievement, the student must complete 8of the required courses. Each Course must be completed with a “C” or better.

Hi Jonna, the certificate of achievement is related to RSI classes only. We have had 5 approved DIR DAS apprenticeship with the State of California for over a decade. OJT for each apprenticeship is 4000-8000 hours. The certificate gives students unit credit for the classes that they take and provides clarity for the set of classes that our apprentices are taking. Too often they meet with a Counselor and then receive the wrong college advising. I hope this helps.

What are the number of onsite work training hours that make this an actual apprenticeship? From the plan, it looks like it is mostly a list of classes. I really want to understand the difference between a program proposal versus an apprenticeship approval.
