Catalog Description:
The Biotechnology Research Laboratory Assistant Certificate of Achievement (CoA) is an interdisciplinary certificate with coursework in Biotechnology, Chemistry, and biology. Through the core biotechnology courses, students will be introduced to a large breadth of topics including basic techniques in biotechnology laboratories, molecular biology, plant engineering, molecular diagnostic, quality, and biomanufacturing. Students must complete the core Biotech courses (2), an introductory chemistry course, a microbiology course, and a 3-units directed study/ internship in Biotechnology to earn the Biotechnology Research Laboratory Assistant Certificate of achievement. Upon completion of this certificate, students will gain proficiency in both technical and employability skills to gain employment in the Biotech industry. Students will also have the option to complete a Plant Biotechnology degree/ certificate or transfer to the the4-yearBiomanufacturing program.

There is no pre-requisite to enter the program.
15 - 20 students are expected to complete the Biotechnology Research Laboratory Assistant Certificate of Achievement.
