The certificate program in fashion merchandising prepares students for immediate employment and to transfer to universities and technical schools of fashion and costume design. Students integrate fashion principles, textile characteristics and personal style with marketing strategies to create and present projects and a portfolio tailored to their chosen career. Career paths include retail buyer, visual merchandiser, fashion marketers, store manager.

The goal of the Fashion Merchandising Program is to equip students with the knowledge skills, and expertise needed to succeed in the ever-evolving world of fashion retail, marketing, and management. The objectives are to introduce students to the fashion industry’s history and contemporary trends, explore the lifecycle of fashion products, consumer behavior, and the principles of fashion marketing and promotion, and enhance student’s creativity and aesthetics through the analysis and use of design principles as they relate to fashion. At the end of the program, students should be well-equipped to embark on a variety of career paths within the fashion industry ranging for buyers and visual merchandisers to marketer and store managers.

Item 1.Program Goals and Objective
The goal of the Fashion Merchandising Program is to equip studentswith the knowledge skills, an expertise needed to succeed in the ever-evolvingworld of fashion retail, marketing, and management. The objectives are tointroduce students to the fashion industry’s history and contemporary trends,explore the lifecycle of fashion products, consumer behavior, and theprinciples of fashion marketing and promotion, and enhance student’s creativityand aesthetics through the analysis and use of design principles as they relateto fashion. At the end of the program, students should be well-equipped toembark on a variety of career paths within the fashion industry ranging forbuyers and visual merchandisers to marketer and store managers.
