The Electric Vehicle Certificate of Achievement is designed to prepare students to meet the emerging field of service and diagnosis of electric and hybrid vehicles. This Electric Vehicle certificate of Achievement will provide students with the foundational skills necessary to take the ASE L3 Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Exam and be accepted into a manufacturer’s training program for the service and repair Electric Vehicles (EV) and Hybrid/Electric Vehicles (HEV). Subjects covered will include Electric Vehicle Safety, EV and HEV design, High voltage battery service and repair, drive systems, the repair and service of power electronics.

Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
The Electric Vehicle certificate provides a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for entry level employment opportunities in the automotive service industry. In addition to gaining the skills required to maintain, diagnose and repair electric vehicles, students will have received the knowledge needed to prepare them for the nationally recognized Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) examinations.
Upon successful completion of this award a student will be able to:
1. Recognize, diagnose, and repair faults in the following systems: Fuel Cell Power, Traction Motors, Electrical Energy Storage Systems,High Voltage Drive Train Topology, safety, and Drive Train Electricity and Electronics.
2. Demonstrate skills using online vehicle diagnostic/repair information and specialized test equipment that is consistent with industry standards.
3. Execute safe, proper, and ethical work practices.

To earn a Certificate of Achievement, the student must complete the following coursework. Each course must be completed with a grade of C or better.
