Catalog Description
The Yoga Teacher Training Certificate Program prepares students for employment as a certified yoga instructor to lead both group classes and private individual sessions. It is possible to complete this certificate in one calendar year. The curriculum has been designed to equip the student with the background, both theoretical and practical, to pursue a job in gyms, recreational centers, colleges, after school programs, and private studios.

Program Goal
This certificate is designed to train students in the area of teaching Yoga. The teacher-training curriculum delivers a solid and thorough foundation for students in support of multi-dimensional careers in Yoga. The goals of the certificate are to provide students with the skills and requirements to enter the field of teaching Yoga.
Areas to be covered include:
1. Principles of alignment
2. Pranayama (breath control). Use of breath and breath control practices.
3. Beginner level asana/postures
4. Intermediate level asana/postures
5. Advanced level asana/postures
6. Dhyana (meditation). Meditation and restorative poses.
7. Best practices in Yoga instruction.
8. Modifications and adjustments
9. Integration of props with practice.
10. Anatomical and physiological changes in the body.
Upon completion of the Yoga Teacher Training certificate, students will be prepared to take the Yoga Alliance test for employment. Courses in Foundations, Methodologies, Special Populations, and Theory and Analysis will prepare the student for responsibilities in the field of Yoga, as well as physical practices of Yoga I and Yoga II. The intent of this program is to prepare students, both physically and mentally, for a career in Yoga instruction. The required lecture and laboratory classes support and challenge students as they pursue this career path. The program will prepare students for immediate entry-level employment in the field of Yoga.
