Program Goal

The goal of this program is to prepare students for a career as a fish and wildlife professional. Program completers will be ready to enter into the industry at the technician level or transfer to a university.

The program learning outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental concepts in wildlife biology, fisheries science, ecology, and ecosystem processes, and apply these principles to fish and wildlife management scenarios.
  2. Apply standard field techniques used in fish and wildlife studies, including species identification, habitat assessment, data collection, and basic analysis to support resource management decisions.
  3. Utilize appropriate tools and technologies, such as GPS, mapping software (e.g., GIS basics), data management systems, and field equipment commonly used in fish and wildlife professions.
  4. Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary for transfer into four-year programs or entry-level employment in fish and wildlife biology or related disciplines.
