Catalog Description

The Family Child Care Teaching, Certificate of Achievement (COA) is intended to provide foundational skills in child development knowledge, behavior management, curriculum planning applicable to children from birth to 6th grade, and small business education to successfully run a small business.

Upon successful completion of this COA, students will be able to:

1.  Describe the progressive nature of child development to inform activity, experience, and lesson planning.

2. Describe underlying needs of behavior communication and evaluate strategies to meet these needs.

3. Create developmentally appropriate activities, experiences, and lessons supported by state standards.

4. Identify best best practices in running a small business.

Enrollment Completer Projections

Conservative estimates of completers for this COA is 15 per year.  With changes in the early care and education field, family child care is an even more essential part of the mixed delivery system of care in Ventura county.
