The World Folkloric Dance and Teaching Preparation Certificate of Achievement prepares students to build careers in the field of dance education. Students will understand licensure requirements for dance in both California K-12 and higher education dance programs with hands-on learning in the development of dance-based pedagogy. The program provides preparation for those who wish to pursue attainment of the California TADA credential (Theater Arts and Dance Assessment) to teach world, global, folkloric dance forms.
In this program, students build upon the foundational elements of folk dance forms rooted in vernacular dance with a concentration in urban street dance, African and Caribbean Dance, Asian Cultural Dance, and European Folk Dance. This program's philosophy is that Dance is a tool for global education and interpersonal communication.
