This certificate is designed to provide students with the knowledge to configure, install, diagnose, and support hardware and software issues and design, analyze, and support computer networks. Completion of this certificate provides opportunities of employment in the information technology industry with an emphasis in computer and cyber security for potential positions as information security specialists, information security technicians, information assurance technicians, networking security technicians, and cyber security technicians.
Upon completion of the required courses with at least a āCā grade or better in each course, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, Computer and Cyber Security Specialist (Security+).
This is a new certificate from a revised program and at this time we do not have any data to provide. But would like to anticipate within 2 years that there would be between 20-25 completers. This could also be effected by the creation of a degree.
This Computer and Cyber Security Specialist (Security+) Certificate of Achievement program provides students with the knowledge, training, and hands-on experience to pursue a career and gain professional certification as an Information-Technology Cyber Security Specialist/Technician professional in a business, government, or education environment. Students completing this certificate of achievement will be able to enter the cyber security workforce in positions and areas such as security analyst, information security specialists, information security technicians, information assurance technicians, networking security technicians, and cyber security technicians. It also provides opportunities as a penetration tester with a comprehensive understanding of computer hardware, system software, networking essentials, as well as the intermediate skills to protect computer networks against malicious attack, and to use currently available tools to perform network testing, penetration, and assessment of target networks.
