This program is designed to prepare T-TEN students for employment as automotive brake and alignment technicians. Training is given in theory and practical skills. Directed practical work is given in areas of automotive maintenance and repair under simulated on-the-job conditions. Particular emphasis is placed on those competencies required of Toyota/Lexus brake, suspension, and alignment technicians. The program will provide the student the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills demanded of the modern automotive brake, suspension, and alignment technician. To earn a certificate, complete the required courses as listed with a minimum grade of C or better. All course work must be completed at Cypress College. This certificate requires a total of 18 units.
This certificate supports the Toyota T-TEN student's achievement in demonstrating their knowledge and hands-on proficiency with both the ASE Education Foundation Chassis and Brake systems including hybrid and EV technologies presented using T-TEN certified curriculum. These skills and passing of the related ASE certification tests, A4 Chassis/Suspension and A4 Brake Systems demonstrate to the employer that the student is ready to work as an entry level technician on these systems.
Students must have competence in the repair, diagnostic, and maintenance in chassis and braking systems used in non-hybrid, hybrid and electric vehicles. The courses listed accomplish this goal.
