The After School Program Assistant Certificate is intended toprepare a student in the position requiring practical skills and knowledge towork with K-12 children in an after school care, tutoring, or mentoringprogram. It will also orient students toward further opportunities inhigher education.
The projections of number of students to earn the certificate annually is 15.
Demonstrate knowledge of the practical skillsand requirements to work in an entry-level position with children, assisting ateacher, in an after-school care, tutoring, or mentoring program.
This After School Program Assistant certificate corresponds to the SAC mission of inspiring, transforming, and empowering a diverse community of learners. Specifically, it prepares our students to become a teacher assistant/educational aide working with K-12 students. Students will gain practical skills and knowledge to enable them to work in an after school care, tutoring, or mentor setting. Students can continue to pursue their educational career options through the After School Program Associate Teacher Certificate (17 units) or the Emphasis in School-Age Care and Recreation Degree (32.5-35.5 units).
