This program educates students with basic foundation to serve as an assistant educator in the elementary school with the supervision of a credentialed K-8 teacher. Teacher Assistants are also known as teacher aids, instructional aides and educational assistants. the program is designed to provide introductory essential skills for students who wish to pursue a career in education or advanced degrees and educational qualifications.
Annual completers are projected on average of 30 per year once the program is up and running.
Students completing the TEACHER ASSISTANT PARAPROFESSIONAL Certificate of Achievement will be prepared to:1-serve as an assistant in an elementary school classroom under the supervision of a credentialed teacher.2-apply educational and developmental theories to elementary school classroom practices.
The program contains four courses covering introduction to teaching concepts, history of education, child development and growth which are all designed to provide the student adequate still set for industry or continued education.
