This certificate will prepare students for first-level management and supervisory jobs, as well as, support positions in many disciplines including, business administration, accounting, law, management, marketing, finance, and small business. Emphasis is on accounting, law, and the business environment and functions.
Upon completing this certificate, students can qualify for small business jobs and careers as a manager, a supervisor for retail and non-retail sales workers, a salesperson, or an entry level position in the areas of bookkeeping and accounting. Also, students will have completed many of the core requirements for the Business Administration Associates of Science for Transfer Degree.
As the certificate proposed is a new certificate, no integrated data regarding the projected numbers of graduates is currently available. However, based on the high demand for our currently offered Business Administration AST Degree courses: BUS 001, LAW 001, ACCTG 001, BUS 032, ACCTG 002, and other included elective courses: MGMT 001, FINANCE 008, MARKET 21, we project to have a minimum of 20 students per each academic year.
The goal of the Business Essentials Certificate of Achievement is to provide Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities in business administration and entrepreneurship positions. Emphasis is on business skills and communication, accounting and law providing skills demanded by large and small enterprises. Upon completion of this program a student should be able to demonstrate skills necessary to perform entry level functions and achieve success as a business manager or assistant.
The proposed certificate is comprised of current courses from established business administration curriculum. The grouping of these courses into a certificate is part of an overall plan for students to gain employment in areas of high demand and as a companion certificate for the Business Administration AST degree with each degree earner completing core business courses.
As a number of students plan to enter the job market after the completion of business administrative courses, those students who do not have the advanced skills to complete their two years related courses for transferring to four year colleges, will have the opportunity to learn essential business administrative skills to enter the job market. This program will prepare the students to work as first-level management and supervisory jobs, as well as, support positions in many disciplines including, business administration, accounting, finance, law, management, marketing, and small business. With emphasis on business, accounting, law, and other areas of the business environment. Our business courses also prepare our students for transfer to a four-year university. This certificate will significantly improve CTE enrollment, completion, graduation rates, and gainful employment.
