This certificate prepares the student to meet the legal requirements established by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), Standards and Training for Corrections (STC), in order to be employed as a city, county, or private correctional officer.
This 16-week program is offered twice a year, once in Fall and again in Spring with an anticipated average enrollment of 30 students.
The goal of the Corrections Officer Core Course Certificate of Career Preparation is to prepare students to meet the legal requirements established by the Board of State and Community Corrections’ Standard and Training for Corrections while developing communication, computation, critical thinking, and social skills. The primary objective of this CTE program is workforce preparation in the Public Safety industry sector. The program outcome is to perform the duties and responsibilities of a California Correctional Officer in a local city, county, or private facility, as defined by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC).
