Program Learning Outcomes:
1. Integrate understanding of the needs, the characteristics, and multiple influences on development of all children birth to age eight as related to high quality care and education of young children.
2. Analyze, demonstrate, and evaluate effective practice in working with young children.
3. Design, implement, and evaluate environments and activities that support positive developmental play and learning outcomes for all young children.
4. Apply effective guidance and interaction strategies that support all children’s social learning, identity, and self-confidence.
5. Apply ethical standards and professional behaviors that demonstrate understanding and knowledge, deepening the commitment to Early Care and Education profession.
Currently, the child development program has a success rate of 83% and a retention rate of96%. This particular certificate is designed for students seeking entry-level employment who may or may not be pursuing a degree.
This certificate provides the educational coursework for the early childhood education field. As a result of completing this program, students will be prepared and qualified to work in a Title 22 early care and education program.
This certificate provides students with an additional six units above what is required to work in a Title 22 program, giving the student additional knowledge to work with children successfully.
With appropriate documented work experience, the student is eligible to apply for the California Child Development Permit through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing at the Associate Teacher level.
