Students will explore animation concepts and gain hands-on experience and skill using industry standard hardware and software and motion capture systems, and employ techniques in storytelling and character development for both for 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional animation used in broadcast media, gaming and simulation, motion graphics, web design, and VR/AR. Students will develop an animation portfolio representative of the material and techniques studied that is suitable for use in seeking entry-level employment or transfer to another institution.

Students will develop foundational knowledge and technical skills sufficient to prepare them for successful employment in a variety of occupations in fields such as broadcast media, gaming and simulation, motion graphics, web design, and VR/AR in occupations and roles such as texture artist, visual development artist, effects animator, character rigger, character animator, cartoonist, background painter, video game designer, stop motion animator, flash animator or 3D modeler.
Students must complete 33 units of required courses and a minimum of 9 units of restricted electives for a total of 42 units to achieve the Certificate of Achievement.
