This program provides foundation design skills and technical planning for web and app design fields. Foundation skills in strategic thinking, planning, wire framing, and technology platforms are stressed. Other areas of focus include visual communication, interaction and user experience. The DM Program is classified as a CTE Program and as such we prepare students with skills and knowledge that respond to current needs of business, technology, and the allied professional fields. The DM program also prepares students to transfer to four-year university programs, and is committed to providing an interdisciplinary educational experience; one that contributes to the education of an individual, including the development of critical thinking, written and oral communication skills, and an appreciation of the arts and humanities. The DM program intersects design, technology and communication fields which are critical to the college mission that strives to advance California's economic growth and global competitiveness and contribute to the region's continuous work force improvement.
Upon completion of the degree, students will be able to:

Upon completion of the program, students are prepared for employment in app design and development and may be prepared for employment as a digital media assistant, front end web developer or designer, and multimedia producer.
The program is designed so a student would take 6 units in the major the first semester, 12 units in the major the second semester, 5 units in the major the third semester and 7 units in the major the last semester for a total of 30 units. The students would then need to fulfill the General Education requirements of 30 units to complete the degree.
This program is being revised to stay current and abreast of industry standards. Changes include updates to the program title, description and courses. Deactivated course, DM/IS 023, was removed from the required core list and deactivated courses, DM/IS 001C, 023B, 024B, 025C, 025D were removed from the electives list.
