This program is designed to prepare students for employment as a T-TEN engine and drivetrain specialist. Training is given in theory and practical skills. Directed practical work is given in areas of automotive maintenance and repair under simulated on-the-job conditions. Particular emphasis is placed on those competencies required of engine and power train technicians. The program will provide the student the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills demanded of the modern automotive engine and power train specialist. To earn a certificate, complete the required courses as listed with a grade of C or better. 100% of all course work must be completed at Cypress College. This certificate requires a total of 23 units.

This certificate supports the Toyota T-TEN student's achievement in demonstrating their knowledge and hands-on proficiency with both the ASE Education Foundation Engine, Automatic Transmission and Manual Transmission/Driveline, including hybrid and EV technologies presented using T-TEN certified curriculum. These skills and passing of the relates ASE certification tests, A1 Engines, A2 Automatic Transmissions and A3 Manual Transmissions and Drivelines, demonstrate to the employer that the student is ready to work as an entry level technician on these systems.
Students must have competence in the repair, diagnostic, and maintenance in all the engine and driveline automotive systems used in hybrid, non-hybrid and all electric vehicles. The courses listed accomplish this goal.
