The Core Skills Certificate will prepare students for an entry-level position as a mechanical drafter trainee in a variety of design professional settings and will serve as a foundation for specialization.
• Construct engineering detail and working drawings incorporating tolerances and fits for manufacturing.
3-5 students should complete after 2 years.
The Computer Aided Design – Mechanical, Core Skills program creates an educational environment where students can achieve their individual goals by providing the knowledge and skills to enter the design field of their choice by using the latest technologies and industry trends.
This existing program has been updated and streamlined to increase completions and to utilize appropriate industry language. The previous program had 4 required courses and then students were required to complete one software option. The total required units were a range from 15-19, which was out of compliance as a result of some courses reducing units. The new program has 9 required courses and no restricted electives with a total overall requirement of 18 units.
