As A Noted Modification Cuyamaca supports

LMI does not support maybe consider changing the title. Says complete overhaul so the program is not a modification.

Since, per Nichol, this is a program modification MiraCosta approves, however, I believe we all should take note of the COE recommendation and not consider starting like programs at our institutions given the minimum of a bachelor's degree required to earn a below state average living wage. This COE information will be very helpful should faculty at my institution inquire about offering a like program. I am actually considering sending monthly updates to MiraCosta faculty that summarizes these COE recommendations so that they can see our work and to provide context on what they should and should not pursue based on LMI that is our sole criteria for approval.

While most entry-level and median earnings for these occupations are above the living wage and a supply gap exists for these positions, the available LMI recommends proceeding with caution when developing a program because 1) employers require, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree for these occupations and 2) the percentage of students who obtained a job related to their field of study and earned a living wage after completing related programs is below the state average for students who complete Career Education programs in general.

While this program is technically a new certificate, this is really more of a program modification. The are modifying the program from a Certificate of Proficiency to a Certificate of Achievement. No new curriculum was created. This is a stackable certificate and all of the classes are required for other certificates and/or degrees. Additionally, when looking at the LMI report, the public relations specialist was the most positive of all of the occupations in this group. It had the most job growth since 2014 and jobs are accepted to grow by 2024.
