The goal of this program is to increase diversity in the technical workforce by providing an education platform for web designers. This program aims to develop quality and quantity of technical professionals to fulfill business needs and generate greater economic impact in the greater Inland Empire region. Students will gain soft and technical skills necessary to become entry-level web designers.
In addition to promoting critical thinking, developing information competency and technological literacy, a core component of the Moreno Valley College mission is to provide high-quality, affordable education by offering career-technical courses which lead to locally-approved and state-approved certificates. The Web Designer and Developer Certificates fulfill the college mission in several ways. All of the courses within the certificate promote critical thinking by requiring students to apply and to adapt learned skills, and concepts learned, to various tasks encountered daily on the Web / internet. Further this proposed program consists of mostly existing courses which already align to the college's mission.
The courses in the proposed program are up-to-date and contain relevant job skills needed in workplace. Some are a part of other certificates as well which align to job opportunities in such fields as advertising, computer programming, software developer, social media marketing, etc. Discipline and department review, meeting discussions, and advisory input affirm the need and relevance of the program courses and overall program.
