The Cloud Computing Azure AI – Certificate of Achievement provides the industry standard skills to understand and develop applications for the cloud using the Microsoft Azure platform. Learners acquire a range of topics that cover the technical principles of the hardware and software requirements to run systems in the cloud including storage, database management, and software systems, while maintaining secure access.
The Cloud Computing Azure AI program prepares students to design solutions for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) architectures by provisioning computing instances, establishing virtual private networks, managing databases and storage within a secure online environment. Students produce dynamic solutions responsive to information and computing technology workloads with on-demand pay-as-you-go pricing allowing flexibility for small business, entrepreneurship and enterprise adoption. Industry certifications are embedded to prepare for occupations in Cloud Architect, Cloud Support Associate, Cloud Engineer or Cloud Technicians. Some preparation in information technology or computer programming is recommended.
Program Learning Outcomes:
Upon completing the Cloud Computing Azure AI Certificate of Achievement, learners will be able to:
1. Design Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions by provisioning computing instances, establishing virtual private networks, managing databases and storage within a secure online environment.
2. Analyze performance metrics of a cloud architecture to respond dynamically to information and computing technology workloads and optimize service costs.
3. Collaborate in a team designing business solutions in an industry aligned project.
4. Design and develop full stack web apps
5. Provide the code to make websites interactive or allow users to interact with back-end applications and databases
6. Hosta database and run queries using an interface from a commercial provider.
7. Runa file-server service using a provider of their choice.
Based on the available data presented in the LMI, there appears to be a supply gap for occupations related to Cloud Computing in the region. The supply gap is projected to be 14,695 jobs available annually in the region due to new job growth and replacements, which is more than the 4,261 awards conferred annually by educational institutions in the region. All 28 community colleges in the LA/OC region issue awards related to IT and/or cloud computing, conferring an average of 1,299 awards annually between 2016 and 2019.
Los Angeles County Community Colleges (El Camino, ELAC, Glendale, Harbor, Mission, Pierce, LATTC,LA Valley, Mt SAC, Rio Hondo, SMC, WLAC, LASC, LACC…) are offering Cloud Computing program with a projected enrollment of 1500-1800 and a completion rate of 75% or approximately 1,238 on a yearly basis. With the inclusion of Orange County which is approximately ½ of Los Angeles in enrollment, an additional 619 completers are expected for a total of 1,857 yearly completers which would be an 91% increase in completion numbers for this general field of study.
Los Angeles Southwest College Computer Science projects a minimum of 30 learners per semester will enroll in this pathway.
The Cloud Computing Azure AI Certificate of Achievement Goals and Objectives are consistent with the mission of the community colleges under Education Code section 66010.4which states “A primary mission of the California Community Colleges is to advance California’s economic growth and global competitiveness through education, training and services that contribute to the continuous work force improvement.”
The Cloud Computing Azure AI Certificate of Achievement develops skills for the occupations of cloud architect and cloud technician using the Microsoft Azure platform. The program bridges traditional on-premises data center skills of server installation, database management, and networking set-up and cabling into virtualizations of these information and computing technologies over online services. Job preparation will include industry certifications of Microsoft Azure.
This program provides the industry standard skills to understand and develop applications for the cloud. Students learn a range of topics that cover the technical principals of the hardware and software requirements to run systems in the cloud including storage, database management, and software systems, while maintaining secure access. Learners who complete this certificate will help to fill the anticipated supply gap within the field.
