The small business sector is one of the most important parts of the United States economy and many people want to become entrepreneurs. The Small Business Entrepreneurship Level II certificate program can help prospective entrepreneurs launch new ventures or, for an entrepreneur who already has their own business established, the program can strengthen managerial and business skills to help grow the business. This certificate builds upon the skills learned in the courses taken in the Certificate of Achievement – Small Business Entrepreneurship Level I certificate, although that certificate is not a prerequisite for this certificate.
You will learn additional fundamentals of starting and operating your own business. The program includes basic business skills as well as specific courses in starting and managing a business. Course work covers accounting for the entrepreneurial company, using spreadsheets to help manage your company, using e-commerce in your business, marketing and effectively supervising employees, all skills that are crucial for the growing business.
Program Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of this program, students will
1. Apply accounting principles in business decision making.
2. Develop a marketing plan for a small business utilizing e-commerce skills
3. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the supervisory process in all phases of management, including planning, organizing, leading and controlling the workforce.

1. Program Goals and Objectives: The Small Business Entrepreneurship Level II Certificate of Achievement is an occupational program designed to prepare students to successfully enter the workforce as an entrepreneur in a short period of time (2 academic semesters, or with the use of short-term 8 week courses a motivated student can complete the program in 1 semester). The Program Learning Outcomes include the following:
At the completion of this program, students will
1. Apply accounting principles in business decision making.
2. Develop a marketing plan for a small business utilizing e-commerce skills
3. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the supervisory process in all phases of management, including planning, organizing, leading and controlling the workforce.
This Certificate of Achievement requires a total of 18 units. For the especially motivated student, the certificate can be completed in one semester using short term(5 or 8 week) courses. The goal will be to encourage as many students as possible to choose this route. The schedule below is planned for 2 semester completers.
