TheĀ Biotechnology Laboratory Assistant Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who want to gain some technical skills and experience in the biotechnology laboratory. Students will learn key concepts regarding laboratory safety, following standard operating procedures (SOP's), and proper documentation. Students will be qualified to work as a Laboratory Assistant in an academic or industrial biotechnology research lab upon completion. Additionally, this certificate serves as the foundation for our other stackable certificate and degree.
The program requirements include two 4-unit courses, Introduction to Biotechnology and Techniques in Cell and Molecular Biology. These two courses include the core concepts of biology and biotechnology plus the hands on experience of following protocols and mastering basic biotechnology laboratory techniques.
