This one-semester program covers the fundamentals of Electronics Technology. General topics include direct current electronics, alternating current electronics, and digital electronics. These introductory courses provide entry-level skills for those seeking employment as electronics technicians. This Level 1certificate will prepare students with the requisite knowledge for subsequent electronics certificates and degrees.
24 Annually with a retention rate of 94% based on success rate of Electronics students the past two years.
Upon completing the Certificate of Achievement in Electronics Technology Level 1, students achieve competencies in the basics of Electronics Technology including direct current, alternating current and digital electronics. Students are prepared to work as entry level Electronics Technicians, and have the ability to use electronic test equipment such as multi-meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and logic probes. In addition, students will gain an understanding of electronic schematics and passive components such as resistors, inductors, capacitors, transformers, as well as digital active devices. This program differs from other CTE programs at the college in that it can be completed within the first semester of enrollment. Further, this laddered certificate can be applied towards subsequent electronics technology certificates and A.S. degree.
This certificate is comprised of 3 introductory level Electronics Technology courses including ELEC 50A, ELEC 50B, and ELEC 56, and can be completed in one semester, either fall or spring.
