This program is designed to prepare students to work in the field of real estate. Students will learn the fundamental aspects of real estate sales including the principles, practices, legal aspects, business law and financial accounting.
There are no prerequisite skills for enrollment limitations.
The following lists the student learning outcomes:
Real estate 1: Principles
Identify the various methods of holding title to real estate. Explain how a husband and wife might hold title to real property and explain how two friends might hold title to real property.
Describe the basic definition of real estate and personal property.
Real estate 3: Practices
Prepare a California Association of Realtors Listing Agreement.
Prepare a California Association of Realtors Purchase Agreement and Joint Escrow Instructions.
Real estate 5: Legal aspects
Review the Easton vs. Strassburger(1984)case and explain how this case impacted the behavior of real estate agents in California.
Describe the basic definition of real estate and personal property.
Law 1 or Bus 5: Business Law 1
Prepare a contract for the sale of personal property.
Differentiate between the remedies available in a civil dispute.
Accounting 1: Financial Accounting
Analyze accounting data and prepare in good form the four basic financial statements of a sole proprietorship or corporation.
Analyze and prepare year-end adjustments using worksheets and complete an accounting cycle.
Goals of the program
Help students learn the fundamentals of real estate sales, obtain a real estate certificate of achievement, provide students with the education needed for the real estate salesperson exam, and encourage students to continue taking higher education courses.
Enrollment Completer Projections = 30 annually
Obtain a real estate certificate of achievement. Students who obtain the certificate can use the knowledge they gain to sit for the salesperson exam, continue to take courses at the community college level, transfer the units they earned to a CSU, find employment, and become lifelong learners.
Help students learn the fundamentals of real estate = This goal can help members of the community that wish to learn for their own learning purposes. Example of pupils that would like to take specific courses include first time home buyers, current homeowners, future landlords, tenants, property managers, developers, employees that wish to promote within the field of business.
Transfer =Students that obtain the certificate of achievement will have completed 17 CSU transferable units.
This program includes five courses, totaling 17 units and all courses are CSU transferrable.
