This certificate prepares students for a career in cybersecurity as a Cybersecurity Specialist. The certificate emphasizes competency in computer networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, and python programming. Students will develop skills in risk and vulnerability management as well as learn competencies in cyber defense and information protection. Students will also develop critical thinking skills and programming fundamentals using python programming.
It is projected that 10 -15 students will earn this certificate annually.
The program goals of the Cybersecurity Specialist Certificate of Achievement is to provide fundamental competency in cybersecurity. This certificate may be used to complement another similar degree program at the 2-year and 4-year level.
The program objectives are to develop core knowledge to be able to compete for a career position as a cybersecurity specialist. The core knowledge students will gain include computer networking and cybersecurity fundamentals as well as critical thinking skills in cyber defense and computer programming constructs.
The required courses for the Cybersecurity Specialist Certificate of Achievement include network fundamentals (CSNT 111), an introduction to cybersecurity course (CSNT 181), an introduction to python programming course (CSIT 175) as well as a cybersecurity analyst course called Cyber Defense and Analysis (CSNT 250).
