The Automotive Technician Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement is a low‐unit certificate that provides students with three courses listed in the General Automotive Technician, Alternative Fuel Vehicle Specialist, Automotive Chassis Specialist, and Automotive Engine Performance Specialist certificates and degrees offered by the Saddleback College Automotive Technology department. Students that complete this certificate will understand basic automotive systems, basic automotive electrical, and automotive mathematics to prepare the students for an entry‐level position in the automotive industry. Students that complete the Automotive Technician
Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement will be qualified to take the related National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exam G1.

This certificate prepares students for a career in the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair as a lube tech or apprentice level technician at either a dealership or independent repair facility that repairs and maintains import and domestic passenger vehicles and light trucks.
