The Costuming Certificate prepares the student with costuming skills necessary to source and construct costumes for a costume designer working in the areas of: film, television, dance, theater, opera, theme parks, special events, cultural costumes, costume shops, e-commerce, sports, advertising, historical reenactment and cosplay. Coursework covers material sourcing, costume, and underpinning construction, costume history, costume design, textiles, draping, pattern making, and drafting. Additionally, specialty costume crafts such as fabric dyeing, millinery, shoe making, and corsetry will be covered. Students will also gain professional experience through an internship in the field.
