The Social Media Marketing certificate will introduce students to basic social media marketing concepts, strategies, and techniques in a global online marketplace. An introduction into the creation, execution, transmission, and evaluation of social media and social networks concerned with the advertising and promotion of products and services. Students will have gained basic academic and practical world knowledge, skills, and experience in an ever changing and diverse marketing environment.

The program goals and objectives are to provide students with the basic skills and concept comprehension needed to obtain a position in social media marketing. This certificate will prepare students for positions in several social media marketing related jobs. This may include two middle-skill occupations: buyers and purchasing agents, and sales representatives, wholesale and manufacturing, except technical and scientific products.
This introductory certificate exposes students to the marketing world and the role of social media marketing. This certificate may aid the student’s search for an entry-level job in marketing. The certificate program will include four courses: BUSM 33-Advertising and Promotion, BUSM 34-Social Media Marketing, BUSM 36-Principles of Marketing, and BUSM 50-World Culture: A Business Perspective. A total of 12 units and will be distance learning approved.
