Meeting started at 4:05 with a look at old business: no conflicts and we moved on. 4:18 SP2 Safety Training for all areas both at BC and KHSD, Josh Ralls to look over materials for welding; currently in use at the ROC by Welding instructors and has been adopted for use by KHSD. Good discussion about using this industry level training course as it can transfer from high school to college and then into the workplace. 4:31 Dual enrollment: Bill Lemme made the case for welding to get on board with dual enrollment as the timing is right with the new ROC teachers and the current ability to make some improvements to the Mount Vernon site. ROC Welding teachers, Bill and Scott went with Josh Ralls (BC) and Josh Bradley (Barnes Welding Supply) for a breakout session as reported on by Scott Trimble. 4:40 Fabrication Project was reported on by Robert ”Robb” Stewart (BC) to all in attendance This new Career Pathway leads to an Associate's of Arts Degree and makes use of many existing courses at BC. Robb (BC) explained this new course pathway in detail in the Manufacturing breakout session. Course was approved by unanimous vote. 4:45 Breakout sessions: Josh Ralls led the Welding group as reported by Scott Trimble Good morning Bill, I am just following up with the results from our meeting yesterday with Josh Ralls, Josh Bradley, Bill Buzzell, and myself. We discussed the requirements from BC for dual enrollment with the Regional Occupational Centers’ welding programs. It is looking like the best fits would be aligning with BC’s B1B welding program for the welding 1 class, and aligning my class with their B74A program. One of the concerns from BC’s end, is that our facilities and equipment match theirs. They want to see one welding station (Booth, ventilation, and machine) per student, as well as a maximum student – teacher ratio of 21-1. Both of these seemed like they were pretty hard line on. I do not think that getting our facilities in order will be out of the question, as long as this is something that Brian wants to push forward with dial enrollment. All in all, I think that we can push forward and get this going. Also, following up, I would like to get you out to my shop sooner than later to help me with some set up ideas for my shop moving forward. Thank you, Scott Trimble, Welding II & Fabrication Instructor Robb Stewart led the Manufacturing group Breakout session (Bill Lemme KHSD, Farrell Foley Eliminator Manufacturing) the primary focus was on the new Fabrication pathway. Farrell Foley commented on the need to display and incorporate high tech skills such as CNC brake operation the coursework (CNC brake operation is pa part of the curriculum). He would like the students to take trips to trade shows and industry. We talked about incorporating the NIMS certifications into our courses. We agreed on the need to teach a “Tech Math” course as part of the BC curriculum.
