The Cybersecurity Analyst certificate of achievement program is a short 2-semester program that prepares students for an entry level position in the field of computer internetwork systems security. The curriculum includes courses that prepare students to configure, analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate local area networks (LANs),wide area networks (WANs), and cloud networks. The courses are also designed to teach students assessment procedures of system security vulnerabilities, implementing hardening the systems, risk mitigation strategies, and prevention strategies against cybersecurity attacks. Possible job opportunities include penetration testers, Computer Network Support Specialist, IT Consultant, Network Technical Analyst, Network Technician, Personal Computer Network Analyst, Systems Specialist, Information Security Officer, Information Security Specialist, Information Systems Security Analyst, Information Technology Security Analyst, Network Security Analyst, and Systems Analyst, and Penetration Testers.
We anticipate 10 projected students/annual completers each year, based on enrollment data.

A Cybersecurity Analyst Certificate of Achievement is offered to the students as a 2-semester pathway for educational and professional growth. The students will gain an understanding of computer technologies, such as operating systems, networking media and protocols, cloud computing, computer systems security with focus on cybersecurity. The student will also learn theory and practical skills in configuration and troubleshooting of communication networks. The courses offered in the Cybersecurity Analyst Certificate also prepare students for various industry certification exams, such as the CompTIA CySA+, Security+, Network+, and Linux+. At the end of the program, students will be prepared for entry-level positions in the field of computer information systems and technology that include various occupations such as Penetration Testers, Computer Network Support Specialists, and Information Security Analysts.
The program supports the college mission to prepare students for careers in technical education. The program has a clear sequence of courses that leads to intended outcomes and gainful employment and as such is appropriate to the objectives and conditions of higher education and community college education in California.
The program was discussed and approved in the advisory board meeting of October 14,2021. The minutes of that meeting is attached and the approval of the program is highlighted.
There are no requirements for additional facilities and equipment.
