The Legal Translation and Interpretation program consists of 4 courses, each one building on previous skills. Students must pass each course with a grade of “C” or better in order to advance to the next course. The program focuses on grammars of English and Spanish, interpreting criminal cases, civil matters, and legal content. Students will learn to interpret consecutively and to simultaneously sight translate in a legal setting. This program leads to a Certificate of Achievement, and prepares students for the State CCIOE certification in Translation and Interpretation Spanish/English. Program admission requires the passing of a Bilingual Screening Test.

To prepare students for jobs in Legal Translation and Interpretation in the court system and community agencies. Students will be prepared to take the California Court Interpreters Oral Examination (CCIOE) and written exam.
This is a one-year program consisting of four courses, each one building on the previous. Students are required to pass a bilingual screening exam prior to acceptance into program.
