This certificate prepares students for a career in cybersecurity as a Cybersecurity Pentester. The certificate emphasizes competency in computer networking, information systems management, Linux fundamentals, cybersecurity fundamentals, python programming, computer forensics, and ethical hacking fundamentals. Students will develop skills in risk and vulnerability management as well as learn competencies in cyber defense, computer forensics, and ethical hacking. Students will also develop analytical skills and programming fundamentals using python programming.
It is projected that 5-10 students will complete this certificate annually.
The program goals of the Certificate of Achievement - Cybersecurity Pentester is to provide fundamental competency in cybersecurity and ethical hacking principles. This certificate may be used to complement another similar degree program at the 2-year and 4-year level.
The program objectives are to develop core knowledge to be able to compete for a career position as a cybersecurity analyst or pentester. The core knowledge students will gain include computer networking and cybersecurity fundamentals as well as analytical skills in cyber defense and penetration testing.
This certificate of achievement will stack upon the cybersecurity analyst certificate of achievement by adding 4 additional courses to complete. In addition to the 4 courses for the cybersecurity analyst certificate, the cybersecurity pentester certificate adds a course on Linux fundamentals (CSCI 130), an overview of information technology systems (CSIT 125), a computer forensics course (CSNT 280) and the Ethical Hacking Principles course (CSNT 255).
