The Automotive Engine Repair Technicianl Certificate of Achievement prepares students for careers as automotive technicians with an emphasis in engine mechanical repair, engine machining processes and mechanical diagnostics. Students completing this certificate will be trained in knowledge of all phases of engine mechanical systems, engine performance system operations, diagnostics, and repair. Students will be qualified to achieve a career in automotive engine repair as an Automotive Engine Repair Technician (Heavy Line Technician), Automotive Engine Performance Diagnostics Technician, or General Automotive Technician at a privately-owned repair shop, corporately owned repair shop, or manufacturer dealership. Graduates of the Automotive Engine Service Specialist program will be qualified to take the related National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exam A1. The Automotive Engine Repair Technician Certificate of Achievement is a low unit certificate that will build on the completion of Beginning Technician Certificate of Achievement.

The curriculum in the Automotive Engine Repair Technician Certificate of Achievement is designed to prepare the student for entry into the specialized field of engine mechanical diagnostics, engine mechanical repair for cylinder heads and lower rotating assemblies, engine performance in electronic and ignition systems, engine performance in fuel and emissions systems, advanced measurements and calculations and repair on both import and domestic passenger vehicles and light trucks. Students who successfully complete the requirements for Automotive Engine Repair Technician certificate will be able to perform basic automotive maintenance, diagnosis, service operations, and be immediately productive on the job.
Award of this certificate requires the successful completion of the Auto Tech Fundamentals certificate and the following courses
